Why Uplighting Is So Important

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY

Why Uplighting Is So Important

When it comes to planning an event, there are many different details to consider, from the guest list to the menu to the decorations. One element that can have a huge impact on the overall look and feel of an event is uplighting. Uplighting refers to the use of strategically placed lights to illuminate walls, columns, and other architectural features from the ground up. In this article, we will explore some of the reasons why uplighting is important at an event.

1. Creates Atmosphere and Ambiance

Uplighting is a powerful tool for creating atmosphere and ambiance at an event. By using different colors and intensities of light, you can create a specific mood or tone that sets the stage for your event. For example, warm and soft lighting can create a cozy and intimate atmosphere, while bright and bold lighting can create a lively and energetic vibe.

2. Highlights Key Features and Décor

Uplighting can also be used to highlight key features and decor at an event. By strategically placing lights around important elements such as centerpieces, floral arrangements, or artwork, you can draw attention to these details and make them stand out. This can be particularly useful if you are hosting an event in a space with limited decor or if you want to showcase a specific theme or color scheme.

3. Enhances Photography and Videography

Uplighting can also enhance photography and videography at an event. By illuminating key features and decor, uplighting can create a more visually interesting backdrop for photographs and videos. This can be especially important if you are hiring a professional photographer or videographer to capture your event, as it can help them to create more dynamic and compelling images.

4. Adds Depth and Dimension

Uplighting can also add depth and dimension to a space. By illuminating walls and other architectural features from the ground up, you can create the illusion of height and depth, making a space feel more dynamic and interesting. This can be particularly useful if you are hosting an event in a large, open space that might otherwise feel flat or one-dimensional.

5. Customizable and Versatile

Finally, uplighting is highly customizable and versatile. With a wide range of colors, intensities, and lighting effects to choose from, you can create a look and feel that is perfectly tailored to your event. Uplighting can be used to complement a specific theme or color scheme, or to create a unique and memorable atmosphere that guests will remember long after the event is over.

In conclusion, uplighting is an important element to consider when planning an event. From creating atmosphere and ambiance to highlighting key features and enhancing photography, uplighting can have a huge impact on the overall look and feel of an event. Whether you are hosting a wedding, corporate event, or private party, uplighting is a powerful tool for creating a memorable and visually stunning experience for your guests.

Wedding Tip Wednesday – Your Wedding in Numbers

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY

Your Wedding In Numbers

How much you should spend on your wedding vendors?

The budget for each wedding vendor can vary depending on your location, the vendor’s experience, and the level of services they provide. However, as a general guideline, here are the average percentages of the total wedding budget that couples typically allocate to each vendor:

  1. Wedding Planner/Coordinator: 10-15% of the total wedding budget
  2. Venue/Catering: 40-50% of the total wedding budget
  3. Photographer/Videographer: 10-15% of the total wedding budget
  4. Florist/Decor: 8-10% of the total wedding budget
  5. Music/Entertainment: 8-10% of the total wedding budget
  6. Wedding Attire (including dress, tux/suit, hair, makeup): 8-10% of the total wedding budget
  7. Wedding Cake/Dessert: 2-3% of the total wedding budget

  10. Favors/Gifts: 2-3% of the total wedding budget

Of course, these percentages are just a guideline, and you can adjust them based on your priorities and preferences. It’s essential to determine your overall wedding budget first and then allocate the funds based on what is most important to you. Additionally, keep in mind that some vendors may offer packages or customized options that can affect their pricing, so be sure to research and compare vendors to find the best fit for your perfect day.

Wedding Tip Wednesday – Finding Value In Your Vendors

WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY

Finding Value In Your Vendors

Don’t just choose your vendors over their price.  Meet with your vendors in person or virtually, ask tons of questions, ask if they are insured, research and read reviews on trusted sites like TheKnot and WeddingWire, make sure they mesh with you and your style, and most importantly, understand the value of the vendor you are interviewing.

I’ve had too many couples in the past that didn’t book with us come back and tell me they wished they booked with us because their cheaper DJ didn’t interact with them, or their photographer delivered blurry photos.

There are several reasons why finding professional wedding vendors over cheap ones is important for your special day:

  1. Quality of service: Professional vendors have the experience, expertise, and resources to provide high-quality service that meets your expectations. They understand what it takes to deliver excellent service and ensure that every detail is taken care of.
  2. Reliability: Professional vendors are more reliable than cheap ones. They are less likely to cancel at the last minute or fail to deliver on their promises. They have established businesses and reputations to uphold, and they take their commitments seriously.
  3. Responsiveness: Professional vendors are typically more responsive to your needs and concerns. They are available to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer support throughout the wedding planning process. They are committed to making your wedding day as stress-free as possible.
  4. Attention to detail: Professional vendors are known for their attention to detail. They understand that every aspect of your wedding is important and they strive to make sure that everything runs smoothly. They will work closely with you to ensure that your vision for your wedding is executed perfectly.
  5. Peace of mind: Hiring professional vendors will give you peace of mind on your wedding day. You can trust that they will handle everything professionally and ensure that your wedding day is everything you hoped it would be.

Overall, while cheap vendors may save you money upfront, the potential risks associated with their lack of experience, reliability, and attention to detail can result in a less-than-perfect wedding day experience. Investing in professional wedding vendors may require a higher initial investment, but it can ultimately lead to a more successful and memorable wedding day.
